I was a nervous wreck all day yesterday. I was doing my best to prepare for the absolute worse and was trying not to descend into abject despair. I didn’t even dare hope at 11:00 pm my time last night that Republicans would not only win the presidency but keep the house, senate and the majority of governorship’s.
My daily devotional scripture for November 8, 2016 was:
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” –1 Thess 5:16-18
I wasn’t sure how to take this scripture yesterday morning. Was God warning me that we were going to lose the way everyone predicted and to rejoice and still trust Him or was it a portent of better things? For the past 8 years I have seen my country go down the drain. The economy did not get better, millions were out of work,(I was one of them a year ago) millions had given up looking for work, and had lost their healthcare because of Obamacare that only the Democrats voted for. Morally we were in a death spiral. Lawlessness was celebrated and policemen became target practice. Terrorism spread at an exponential rate and all the blood, sweat, tears and sacrifice our military endured in the middle east was wasted by the feckless policies of the current administration.
Just like millions of others yesterday I prayed, no…I begged God to have mercy upon us but I desperately feared that because of our wickedness, He would reward us with another leader who He would use to exact divine judgement upon us instead. During the 2008 and 2012 elections I fasted for over 2 weeks from solid food (I even gave up a Fleming’s Rib-eye steak). My non religious family members thought I had lost my mind. I was asked by several friends if I was going to fast again this year but felt no inclination to do so and didn’t want to “jinx” myself.
I understand the despair, angst, anger and disillusionment those on the other side are feeling – I went through it for 8 years and watched the Obama administration ruin this country to the point where I thought we would never recover. The man never went to any of the security briefings for the whole of his 8 years as President. He was too busy golfing and going on expensive family vacations all over the world on our tax dollars to denigrate and apologize for our nation.
As I said in a previous post, Donald Trump was my absolute LAST choice out of the entire republican field. He talked and behaved in ways that made me cringe and took cheap shots. I never thought he would end up as the nominee but over the course of the summer and fall he began to win me over. I agreed with all of his policies and political stances. James Dobson, who I respect enormously endorsed him and stated that Donald had recently become a believer. I liked the fact that Trump is not beholden to any special interests of any kind. He spent less than $5.00 per vote and used a lot of his own money. He didn’t need this job. He gave up a great life to be mocked, ridiculed, slandered and threatened by not only the other party, corporate America and the media as well.
I am convinced that no other republican would have stood up to this kind of attack. They all would have folded in someway (except perhaps Ted Cruz) and capitulated or watered down their message to be more appealing. I certainly don’t think any of them would have had the chutzpah to put Bill Clinton’s victims on display for all to see and given them a platform to expose exactly what kind of disgusting, despicable predator he is.

I can now breath a sigh of relief. I now have hope for a better future for me and everyone else, Republican and Democrat alike. As Reagan once famously said, a rising tide lifts all boats. It benefits all of us to have the rule of law enforced. It benefits all of us to have a strong military, stop the invasion of unvetted immigrants, lower taxes, smaller government, a more welcoming business environment, less regulation and protection of the unborn. I don’t think the government will change the laws on abortion but at least it can stop funding it with our tax dollars! You want to exercise your choice? PAY FOR IT YOURSELF! It is not the government’s role to do anything except to provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare.
The Clinton machine has thankfully been thwarted. Both Hillary and Bill surely belong in prison for multiple felonies and for selling out our national security merely to enrich themselves. (Link for this list.) I hope that the new director of the FBI will have more a spine and do what is right rather than what is expedient for himself personally.
For myself, after last night I feel like celebrating:

Good one! I think throughout his campaign, Trump has morphed into someone who is obviously listening to his advisors. His first speeches were shot from the hip and right out of the locker room. But he’s morphed into a professional who seems to be listening to the many strong and capable advisors he’s gathered around himself. I kind of feel like Nebuchanezzer (sp?) and Joseph are moving into power here as Trump and Pence take over. It’s an answer to prayer to have people in power who seem willing to listen to God’s leading. If we continue to lift this country up in prayer, as the next four years unfold we could well be on our way to forgiveness and the beginnings of restoration for America. At any rate, we Trumped Hillary.
